Minerals is an installation characterised by mirror-polished bronze forms, placed in harmony with large natural stones. The work aims to reconnect viewers with their inherent relationship to nature by tensioning the delicate treatment and preciousness of bronze, against the solidity, weight and beauty of the natural stone. The installation combines large pieces of slate in an isolated environment elevating the stone’s value, formally, materially and aesthetically. The bronze forms have intricate void-like patinaed interiors that attempt to draw viewers closer, creating an intimate proximity between the viewer and the natural stone, that grounds the two materials in their environment.
